I have a friend whose birthday was in Feb but sadly I was in an art lull. I have felt so bad that I didn’t make her a balloon gift for her birthday.
Her birth stone is amethyst and so I decided to do something purple focused.
I came up with this flower bouquet as a result.
I came up with the idea of putting ribbon inside the base balloons and it produces a super lovely effect.
The flower I was inspired by Romina Finali and pictures of flowers on a column I had seen of hers and the butterfly I was inspired by a picture of a butterfly I had seen by Irina Lobanova.
I came up with this piece as a result and put my own twist and sensibilities to it.
I decided not to use any green and just have purple for the leaves and I like how I did the leaves and I just love the colors together. It is 4 ft. tall.
I put the rule of thumb of darkest colors on bottom in a piece on trial here and I like it! I also used beads for the center of the flower and am getting more mixed media in my approach. .
It’s all Mavericky!
My friend just loved it and I was so happy to see her reaction and it made it all worth it. I really love making things for people who don’t expect it. It deflates the excitement for me if someone is expecting it. Surprising someone with balloon art made from the heart, nothing feels better. 🙂
Warm Fuzzies to all of you and Happy Twisting!
Don’t even ask me how I managed to make this because it is all a blur and it was serendipity, lol.
I was actually trying to making something completely different but this just emerged.
This is a Patricia Balloona original design.
This is my first attempt at a star weave and it ended up cone shaped completely by accident. I don’t know that I could ever do that again on purpose, lol.
I wasn’t sure what to do with the coned star weave but then it just hit me, this would make a nice fish.
I don’t know if I am the first to double stuff balloons with ribbons inside but I got inspired to do that and it was original to me.
I decided to use a jewel I had found around the house for the eye and it really adds great drama. My fish head is quite different as well and it was a flash of insight at the last minute.
Everything just started to come together in my head in a rush. This was a very go with the flow project for me and this piece just wanted to emerge.
I absolutely love my fish and I love how everything came together and I am in shock. It really felt like an out of body experience and the whole process was so creatively magical.
This piece stands at about 4 ft. tall if not more. My lovely daughter modeling with it below.
Hope you like it and find some inspiration and Happy Twisting!
Picture below was without finished touches. I added a few more spiky things on the top and the bottom and I feel that really finished the piece. My adorable daughter modeling with it below.
I just made this life size (she is taller than me and I am 5 ft 6,lol.) balloon Dorothy and Toto.
I drew the face on myself. 🙂
There is lining in her basket and I even made teeth for Toto. 🙂
I altered a Gabrielle Hodge Westie dog design and made the snout long and added a bottom for the mouth.
The Dorothy and basket is just all me. The characters are not mine, but the way I have balloonified them is.
Hope you like it. Happy Twisting!
