526th Balloon Sculpture, Winter Solstice Fairy

Standard
526th Balloon Sculpture, Winter Solstice Fairy

Well, it is that time of year again. The Winter Solstice is almost here! It is a time for reflecting on light.

I came up with this idea to make a  winter fairy who would be a bringer of light. The photos don’t do this piece justice, it is soooo much cooler in person.

This is a Patricia Balloona original design. 🙂 I drew the eyes on paper and then cut the eyes out and taped it to the balloon as I was afraid to take the chance as I am a bit rusty on drawing faces on balloons, it has been a while.

A friend of mine introduced me to Fairy Lights and of course I had to implement it with my balloon work. I think I did something pretty innovative for wings. I put the fairy in fairy lights son!

Hope you like it and find this idea inspiring. I did a bit a mixed of media with feathers and lights and I really love how she came out! I also really love the way the flower came out. It is my take on an Iris flower.

I originally made the skirt one way and then went back and made it a little fuller. Not sure which I like better. Pics of both included. You be the decider. 🙂

Happy Twisting!

515th Balloon Sculpture, Majestic Fish Bouquet

Standard
515th Balloon Sculpture, Majestic Fish Bouquet

Don’t even ask me how I managed to make this because it is all a blur and it was serendipity, lol.

I was actually trying to making something completely different but this just emerged.

This is a Patricia Balloona original design.

This is my first attempt at a star weave and it ended up cone shaped completely by accident. I don’t know that I could ever do that again on purpose, lol.

I wasn’t sure what to do with the coned star weave but then it just hit me, this would make a nice fish.

I don’t know if I am the first to double stuff balloons with ribbons inside but I got inspired to do that and it was original to me.

I decided to use a jewel I had found around the house for the eye and it really adds great drama. My fish head is quite different as well and it was a flash of insight at the last minute.

Everything just started to come together in my head in a rush. This was a very go with the flow project for me and this piece just wanted to emerge.

I absolutely love my fish and I love how everything came together and I am in shock. It really felt like an out of body experience and the whole process was so creatively magical.

This piece stands at about 4 ft. tall if not more. My lovely daughter modeling with it below.

Hope you like it and find some inspiration and Happy Twisting!

Picture below was without finished touches. I added a few more spiky things on the top and the bottom and I feel that really finished the piece. My adorable daughter modeling with it below.

510th Balloon Sculpture, Fall Tree Nymph

Standard
510th Balloon Sculpture, Fall Tree Nymph

I just made this Fall Tree Nymph. She is fiercely ushering in the fall season. 🙂 I wanted her to look feral. I looked online at eye designs and practiced drawing this style of eye on paper and then cut them out and taped it to the balloon.

I altered Lily Tan’s signature doll design and came up with this. I wanted her to have a leaf outfit where her skirt is covered with leaves and also her chest. I should have added one more leaf so that no brown would show where the top orange leaf on her skirt is but I am very pleased with it overall.

Hope you like it and Happy Twisting!

Here She is after I tweaked her skirt in her happy home at the Downtown YMCA. 🙂

509nth Balloon Sculpture. Winter Version of my Tree of Life in the World Egg.

Here is the winter version of my Tree of Life in the World Egg piece.

I wanted it to match my daughter’s beautiful winter dress.

I wanted it to be a special backdrop with which to take pictures of her.

See post 507th and 508 Balloon Sculpture posts for Summer and Autumn versions.

Spring will be coming later this week. I have a lot of house cleaning to catch up with, lol.

Hope you like it and Happy Twisting!

My Stand Up Comedy, Clean and Quirky

Standard

I have dabbled in all kinds of arts. From composing instrumental music to poetry to acting, you name it, I have dabbled in it. Except clay sculpture, though balloon sculpture has covered the sculpture category, lol.

I even did Stand Up Comedy and I figured I would just share this video of my  routine as this will give folks an idea of what I am like and my personality.

So hopefully this will make you laugh and give you an idea of the person behind the balloon art.

503rd Balloon Sculpture, Arch with Flowers for 8th Birthday

Standard

I was inspired by an arch I saw somewhere on Facebook and decided to see if I could make one that was this kind of style myself and with my own flair for an 8 year old birthday party job.

I was able to figure it out on my own and it came out beautifully!

The family loved taking pictures with it, it made for great photo op and said they are going to make the family pics with it their Christmas Card they loved it so much!

The 8 out of daisies I learned from Sergey Loginov, on his Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peTCSR5AD1A.

Hope you like it and Happy Twisting!

500th Balloon Sculpture, Pink Gumball Machine Centerpieces

Standard

I got a request to make 4 pink bubblegum machines for a candy themed baby shower. I saw this design on Pinterest and replicated it.

I made these as a result. It was specifically requested that there be no red in the machines.

Hope you like it and Happy Twisting!

Very exciting projects and new developments are in the works!
