386th Balloon Sculpture, 6ft tall Elsa

Standard

My daughter’s best friend had a birthday recently and so I made her something extra special. She is really into Frozen and so I decided to make her a 6 ft tall balloon Elsa.

I took what I learned from Ken Stillman on tall Princesses and dresses and expanded on it. I added a cape which was made with silver and clear balloons interwoven together and made the head differently and I am really pleased with how the hair came out as I spent careful time and attention to it.

I double stuffed blush 350’s with silver 350’s to make it look like she had on sheer silvery sleeves.

I added on some snowflake details and drew on the face. There is a distortion for nose but it doesn’t show up well in pictures although it shows great in person.

I had so much fun making this and this was such a labor of love.  This just reconfirms for me my love for making large pieces. My heart is in display, décor and gifts.

My daughter’s friend and whole family just loved it which really made my day.  I wanted my daughter’s friend to know that she is a super special girl and that we just love her and her whole family.

I originally had a silver 260 around the waist and realized that was too small and made her waist look too tiny. My daughter modeling with her gives great size perspective though of balloon in relation to kids. I also tweaked the length of the right arm and made the arms more even after this picture was taken.

385th Balloon Sculpture, American Hero

Standard

Greetings everyone. I am back. I had to take a bit of a holiday and do some serious soul searching about some things. My husband and I have been thoroughly studying Brene Brown’s work on shame, vulnerability, courage and connection. It is highly therapeutic and healing work but oh man will it take you for an emotional ride. It is intense but totally worth it and like I said very healing and empowering.

I highly suggest watching her Ted Talks, a list of them here= https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video;_ylt=A0LEVyD3tf1TRZYA1VZXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTB0aHZ2cG5kBHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkA1ZJUDQ5N18x?p=ted+talks+brene+brown and or reading her books like, The Gifts of Imperfection, I Thought It Was Just Me But It Isn’t, and several others. We have both read the two I mentioned but there are like 4 more books on top of those which I plan to read as well.

Back to balloons!

I learned this via Ken Stillman from Balloon Click, http://click.balloonmaster.com/.

I turned it into a centerpiece.

384th Balloon Sculpture, Cat in the Hat Gift Piece

Standard

A friend of mine loves Dr. Seuss and has been working hard on her college math and prepping for her classes. We celebrated her recent math accomplishments and went to out to eat with her and how could I but not make her a celebratory balloon gift?

I made this Cat in the Hat balloon gift piece that says, 1 + 1 = 2. infinity sign + p = infinitely proud of you! This is just something I whipped up for her to celebrate.

She loved it which made me feel super happy.

Pictures of what I made below. 🙂 I wasn’t able to really take good pictures but hey- at least I have something to remember it by, lol. 🙂

383rd Balloon Sculpture, Clown Centerpiece

Standard

I have been in a very reflective and somber mood lately, not to mention my little one went back to school and we had to get ready for that and so I ended up taking a bit of a break.

Here is another Nifty Balloon centerpiece design that I learned from their tutorial, you can purchase it here for $35.00 and learn 7 designs from which you can springboard into anything.

They are top notch when it comes to video tutorials and have the highest production quality I have ever seen.

I actually didn’t really like their clown design all that much, lol. I don’t like the way they do his hair on the tutorial and I don’t know, I just wasn’t in love with it and into it.

I did the hair differently based on what I had seen of later versions of the clown via Facebook and like that much better. I also don’t like that there is no mouth as that is a major feature of a clown, what is a clown without his goofy smile? I added a mouth to mine and the different hair but I should have put the hair higher on the head but didn’t realize it until it was too late, lol.

I also made some squiggly doo’s at the bottom of the base and slightly did my coloring differently on the bottom as well as the hat and flower I changed colors. I used a clear pole as well and my base and pole structure is just a bit different from theirs.

Here is my version of their clown. I am still not happy with it and want to change more things with it.
